FAQs

  • What does a United Methodist Church believe?

As a United Methodist Church, we share many basic affirmations in common with all Christian communities.

These include what we believe about:

God. We believe in the Trinity, that God is revealed as three distinct persons in one. The Trinity is made of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that God works in our lives through creating, sustaining, loving, suffering, judging, redeeming, and reigning over all creation.

Jesus. We acknowledge and claim Jesus Christ as the authority in our lives. We believe that He was born of a virgin, and was both fully God and fully man. Jesus Christ was the human incarnation of God on Earth- the prophesied Chosen One who brought salvation to all peoples. Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and His later resurrection, there is victory over sin and death. This victory is the gift of atonement, which is reconciliation with God that gives us whole life, eternal life, and salvation.

The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the presence of God present in the lives of the church, providing us with guidance, comfort, and strength. We believe that the touch of the Spirit is very personal, and that it is even more evident in the loving interactions of God's people. Galatians 5:22 outlines for us the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We also find the nine gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, which are the utterance of wisdom, the utterance of knowledge, faith, healing, working of miracles, prophecy, the discernment of spirits, various kinds of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues.

Human Beings. We believe that all human beings were created by God, in His own image. We can all choose to either accept or reject a personal relationship with God, but that relationship is necessary to be fully human.

The Church. The Church is the body of Christ, and it is our mission to make disciples for the transformation of the world. We are called to worship God, and to support those who are growing in faith.

The Bible. The writing of the 66 books of the Bible was inspired by God, and it is a sacred scripture. The Holy Spirit works through our study of Scripture, revealing God's truths to us. As a result, the Bible is the written authority for our Christian faith and practice.

  • How can I make a donation?

If you would like to support our church through a donation, you can do so conveniently and securely right here on our website! Click on the "donate" button to be directed to our donation portal through KeyBank. This method allows you to choose Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, whichever payment method you prefer, and gives you the option to make a one-time donation or a recurring monthly gift.

  • Can I request special prayer?

Absolutely! We would love to pray for you. Click on the "Request Prayer" button in the bottom right corner of our website to be directed to our prayer request form. Here you can enter in your information, and even specify whether you would like your request to remain private- so that only Pastor Howard sees it, or public- so that the whole church may pray. Your prayer request is then sent directly to Pastor Howard.
